Children had the opportunity to learn, take part, and develop through Chinese lessons, agriculture, debate and the creative arts, as well as sports.
In Term Two at the Buddhist Peace Nursery and Primary School, lessons in the classroom still played an important role, but a great deal of valuable learning also occurred outside the textbooks and examinations.
The learners took part in lessons in Chinese, as well as in agriculture, debate, art and craft, football, netball and other practical activities.
The Chinese lessons exposed the children to a different language and culture and helped them realise that learning can link them with people and ideas outside of their own local community.
By taking part in debates, learners were able to express their ideas clearly, listen to different opinions and speak in front of others. As a result, they gained confidence, improved their communication skills and developed their ability to think critically.
Art and craft offered chances for creativity and self-expression; the children used their hands together with their imagination to make a variety of things at the same time as they were developing their patience, concentration and coordination.
Agriculture enabled the learners to see where food comes from and to understand the importance of looking after the environment. Since they took part in it themselves, they realised that agriculture demands responsibility, patience and respect for nature.
Football and netball helped to promote physical fitness and at the same time taught students about teamwork, discipline, resilience and respect for the rules; they also provided learners who might not always do well at their academic work with the chance to discover and show off their other abilities.
These activities as a whole showed the school’s dedication to educating the whole child, since education should not only build up academic knowledge but also foster creativity, character, confidence and a practical understanding.
The parents continued to act as important partners during the term. At a meeting between teachers and parents, the families and the teachers talked about the students’ academic progress, discipline, homework, the learning materials, and the pupils’ welfare.
When Term Three begins, the school will be getting ready for a number of important events, such as the Top-Class graduation, an art and craft exhibition, and the end-of-year concert. These activities will give the learners further chances to show what they have learned and to celebrate their talents.
The holiday, which lasts for three weeks, gives children a chance to rest and spend some time with their families. They are urged to stay safe and to read their books while also keeping up the practice of respect, cleanliness, discipline, mindfulness, and compassion.
Because of the continued support given by parents, teachers, donors, volunteers, and friends, the Buddhist Peace School is assisting children in realizing that learning can happen through the use of books, creativity, service, play, and practical experience.
