A joint study seminar was held to bring together students from the Buddhist Peace School and some of the nearby schools so that they could receive guidance on the examination and also share what they had learned.
Getting ready for final exams involves more than just memorising information; learners have to understand the questions, arrange their answers, manage their time efficiently and face the examinations with confidence.
In the second term, the Primary Seven students at Buddhist Peace Nursery and Primary School were given special academic attention as they carried on with their preparations for the Primary Leaving Examinations.
A major activity was a joint study seminar which brought together candidates from the Buddhist Peace School and the neighboring primary schools.
The seminar provided learners with practical advice concerning how to interpret examination questions, how to present their answers in a clear manner, how to make use of the time allowed and how to avoid common errors.
It also gave the candidates the opportunity to experience a different kind of learning setting outside of their normal classrooms. When they came into contact with students from other schools, they exchanged ideas, acquired new points of view and realised that they had similar hopes and challenges.
The experience caused the candidates to gain more confidence and to be better prepared for the requirements of their final examinations.
The seminar also provided the Buddhist Peace School with a valuable chance to carry out its educational mission among the wider community, and by admitting candidates from nearby schools, the school helped in the preparation of pupils outside its own student group.
The teachers kept an eye on the candidates by means of classroom activities, revision exercises and exams. On the basis of the results, they were able to spot the subjects and topics which would need more attention in the final term.
On resuming after the three-week holiday, preparation for the Primary Leaving Examinations will still be one of the school’s main priorities, and teachers will reinforce revision, give the candidates further academic advice and urge them to make use of their left-over time responsibly.
Over the holiday period, it is advisable for candidates to combine having a good rest with keeping up their reading and going over their work. Parents may help them by giving them time to study, checking their schoolwork and encouraging them, without however causing them unnecessary pressure.
Achieving PLE depends on working together by learners, teachers and families; if candidates keep on preparing, show discipline and receive encouragement, they will be able to face their exams with confidence and determination.
